1917. Fourth Edition. 591 pages. No dust jacket. Red cloth boards with gilt lettering. Volume I. Contains black and white illustrations. Cuttings stuck to back free endpapers. Book has been rebound. Pages and illustrations are heavily tanned with noticeable foxing throughout. Pencil markings to front free endpaper. Bookseller sticker stuck to back pastedown. Textblock edges dyed gilt. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Moderate sunning to spine and edges with crushing to spine ends. Gilt lettering is darkened. Visible wear marks to boards. Book has a slight forward lean.
