Understanding the elements of two-dimensional design and the infinite options available in organizing choices made are at the core of this book. Wong surveys all concepts of forms and structures, covering most situations in two-dimensional composition, formal or informal.
Wucius WONG (王無邪) studied at the Columbus College of Art and Design in Columbus, Ohio, and later at the Maryland Institute, College of Art, in Baltimore, Maryland, where he obtained his B.F.A. and M.F.A. degrees. He returned to Hong Kong in 1965, where he joined the City Museum and Art Gallery as assistant curator in contemporary art and design, a position he has held since then. Privately he is a painter involved with the fusion of Oriental and Western traditions, and he has exhibited widely in Hong Kong, Saigon, Manila, Taiwan, Sao Paulo, London, and New York, and other cities of the United States. In 1970/71 he was awarded a fellowship by the J.D.R. 3rd Fund, New York, which enabled him to visit the United States again to observe contemporary art and art education developments for about ten months. Mr. Wong is currently preparing two new books for publication, Principles of Three-Dimensional Design and Color Concepts in Two-Dimensional Design.
