Modern hardcover reissue of Harold Bell Wright's influential religious and social novel, originally published in 1902 and widely credited as one of the first American novels to sell over one million copies. The story follows Dick Falkner, a young printer whose moral courage and applied Christianity transform both a struggling newspaper and a divided community. The novel was notably cited by Ronald Reagan as a formative influence in his youth. Significant Provenance: Presentation inscription on the front endpaper dated 29 May 2007 from Col. Charles L. Webb III (31 MXG/CC) to Brigadier General Robert Yates (3 FW/CC). The inscription references Ronald Reagan's admiration for the book and connects its themes to character and leadership. Both designations indicate senior United States Air Force command positions (Maintenance Group Commander; Fighter Wing Commander). Association copies between high-ranking USAF officers are uncommon and materially enhance the historical and collectible interest of this volume, particularly given the Reagan connection. Condition: Near Fine book in Near Fine dust jacket. Blue cloth boards clean and square with sharp corners; gilt spine lettering bright. Interior clean with no markings beyond the presentation inscription. Jacket shows light edge wear and minor surface rubbing, no major tears; not price-clipped (no price present, as issued in this edition). A superior copy with distinguished military provenance. Edition/Printing Diagnostics: Wildside Press hardcover reprint (Doylestown, PA), issued with ISBN and barcode on rear jacket; not an early 20th-century original edition. Modern reprint likely early 2000s based on ISBN format and inscription date.…
