The Privilege to Grieve is a collection of essays and poetry which invites the reader to accompany Wright on her grief journey after the loss of her child Milo who was 24 years old. She began writing in the first hours after Milo died while her husband drove to pick up their son from college. The book ends almost a decade later. Throughout, she used art, community, and a new awareness to process the loss.
Cindy Wright has always written her way through life's twists and turns. She's been a cook, a teacher, an artist, and a stay at home mom. She stayed home with her two children until the younger child Nick, entered middle school. Her first book, The Mother's of Us All was written during her years at home.
