Pro Chord Changes: For All C Instruments, Volume 1 by arranger Frank Mantooth is a C instrument lead sheet songbook bringing together over 150 jazz standards and popular songs with professionally altered chord changes. Created with pianists in mind while classified for C instruments, each song presents the melody line, lyrics, chord symbols, and a second line of altered chords printed above the original changes, making it possible to compare the underlying harmony with a richer alternative treatment.
This collection goes beyond a conventional lead sheet compilation. Along with its extensive repertoire, the book includes playing tips, music examples, harmonic analysis, and historical annotations. The parallel presentation of original and altered chords gives musicians a practical view of how familiar songs can take on different harmonic colors while preserving the melody and character that define them.
