Probable Universe: An Owner's Guide to Quantum Physics

Since the theory was first developed in the early 20th-century, quantum physics has been the foundation of a second industrial revolution, resulting in dazzling new technologies such as superconductivity, fibreoptics, computers, and lasers. This arcane branch of science is redefining economic and physical reality more profoundly than any other in history, yet it is understood by only a handful of highly trained physicists. In "The Probable Universe", Dr. M. Y. Han is able to relate to non-scientific audiences the remarkable potential of quantum physics and how its staggering technological implications will affect our daily lives in the coming century. Han aims to narrow the knowledge gap that exists between career physicists who are well-versed in quantum theory and a general public that is curious about the direction of modern scientific research. A full professor of physics at North Carolina's Duke University, Dr. M. Y. Han is the co-discoverer of the "colour" charges of quarks.
