About the Author
A Carlosena-Zubieta is an Associate Professor of Analytical Chemistry at the University of A Coruña. She currently works on atomic spectrometry, particularly quantification of trace metals in samples of environmental interest. She published many papers on slurry-sampling ETAAS. There, robust analytical protocols were developed based on multivariate chemometric optimization methods (namely, experimental design and simplex optimization). She was in charge of teaching different subjects in the Analytical Chemistry field since 1994. She published around 60 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Coauthored 5 chapters of books, including two editions of a RSC book on atomic spectrometry and one with World Scientific.
M Gestal-Pose, MS (2001) and PhD (2009) in Computer Science, was born in A Coruña, Spain, in 1977. He is currently an assistant professor in the Computer Science Faculty, University of A Coruña, and a member of the Artificial Neural Networks and Adaptative Systems research laboratory. His research interests are focused on evolutionary computation (mainly genetic algorithms), artificial neural networks and their interaction to perform variable selection. He has participated in several research projects, published papers in many international journals and edited and authored several books.
MP Gómez-Carracedo Researcher at the Department of Analytical Chemistry, University of A Coruña. She got her PhD in 2005, special award. Her research areas cover characterization of refinery products by infrared spectrometry and multivariate regression modelling, particularly partial least squares and artificial neural networks. She also works on variable selection by genetic algorithms. She taught Analytical Chemistry issues at the Universities of Vigo and A Coruña. She published around 30 papers in peer-reviewed journals. Coauthored 10 chapters of books, including two editions of a RSC book on atomic spectrometry and one with World Scientific.
MA Maestro-Saavedra, fields of expertise: Organic Synthesis and Structural Elucidation. In Organic Synthesis, main interests are preparation of vitamin D metabolites and analogs and isotopically labeled compounds. In the Structural Elucidation field, he set up the Scientific Services of University of A Coruña (where he was the Manager of the Services, 1993–2004) where he applied spectroscopic and spectrometric techniques (NMR, MS, UV, single crystal XRD), to natural products and synthetic intermediates. He is Associate Professor at the University of A Coruña since 1996. He was in charge of teaching different subjects on Organic Chemistry and Structural Elucidation since 1996. He has published around 150 papers in peer-reviewed journals and collaborated in the edition of a book with World Scientific.
