453pp. Octavo [23.5 cm] Decoratively embossed red cloth over boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Prominent dings to board edges. Cloth at spine ends a bit chipped and frayed. Small stains at fore-edge of the text block. Slight lean to spine. Elbert H. English (1816-1884) was chief justice of the Arkansas Supreme Court when the state seceded from the Union in 1861.
