Edited, translated, and with a biographical sketch by George Kheirallah. Illustrated with black-and-white drawings. The upper and lower jacket edge wear (see photographs). "The Syrian poet, Khalil Gibran, is best loved in this country for a work he wrote in English - The Prophet. Less widely known, but unique among his conpositions, The Procession is Gibran's first and last major work in verse. Written origianlly in Arabic, it is presented here in Dr. George Kheirallah's subtle and sensitive translation. He calls it "the unconscious biography of Gibran." Dr. Kheirallah has also contributed a biographical introduction, which reveals some little-known facts of the poet's life, and gives the Western reader some notion of how he is regarded in his native Syria. No Gibran work would be complete without a selection of his poetically mystical drawings. Those reproduced here were prepared especially for this edition of The Procession." - from the inner front jacket flap.
