Deluxe Limited Ed., No.39 of 100, quarto, pp.(viii), (i, fronts.), vi, (19, plates & description page), (20)-56, finely bound in half leather, marbled paper bds, gilt title to spine and printed title-label to front, spine sl bumped, loosely inserted invitation, near fine condition. Facsimile of Lewin's 'butterflies & moths' from the second edition of 1822 with the 19 fine coloured plates reproduced. Deluxe limited edition, this copy number 39 of 70 (within a total edition of 212 copies) bound in the style of the later superior issue of the second edition, complete with plain interleaves and hand-marbled sides. Includes detailed historical and bibliographical commentary and census of the known copies of the 1805 and 1822 editions.
