Rick Aster has spent most of his career working on the kinds of challenges that SAS programmers take on every day -- then writing about what he does and how he does it so other people can do the same things. In his consulting, developing, teaching, and speaking, Rick crisscrosses the worlds of large and small business, universities and government agencies, where he sees every kind of SAS programming and learns something, he says, from every program he works on.

The best programming is the kind that brings together the human and technological elements without compromising one or the other, and perhaps it is Rick's remarkable ability to blend these two points of view that has made his SAS programming books so popular. Rick's other activities include music and running. He lives in Valley Forge, Pennsylvania.
