Welcome to the new and enhanced version of the only guide that helps managers understand, and successfully complete, their duties during the design phase of a design-build project. The changes included in this update begin with the title; Professional's Guide to Managing the Design Phase of a Design-Build Project. It is hoped that this title change clarifies who will benefit most from reading this guide, namely, the employee of a design-build firm charged with the successful completion of the project with particular emphasis on the design phase. This guide has been expanded to include numerous helpful techniques to assure the finished design documents represent a project that meets the technical, cost, and schedule aspirations of not only the client, but of all stakeholders. It will help users of this guide to avert common pitfalls and increase their odds for outstanding success. This is version 2.0 of the Design Management Guide published in 2011.
