Fine condition textured red cloth boards with blind-stamped front cover lettering ("Cambridge Classics) and decoration with somewhat faded gold spine lettering. Includes Preface to Revised Edition dated November, 1882; Preface to the New Edition dated June 18, 1891; and Index. Also includes gilt upper page edges. The blank first free front endpaper contains a beautifully and neatly pen scripted vintage December 25, 1898 Christmas gift inscription. All pages are in fine condition and the spine is exceedingly tight and square. (see photographs).
