Program for a benefit for Anthology Film Archives featuring films by Ron Rice, Harry Smith, and Andy Warhol, and a special appearance by poet, underground film actor, and downtown legend Taylor Mead. With proceeds from the event going towards the renovation of the Second Avenue Courthouse to transform it into "a model film and video museum," Anthology Film Archives presented a star-studded lineup of avant-garde films from three of the genre s most paradigmatic filmmakers. Screened that evening at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center were Ron Rice s The Queen of Sheba Meets the Atom Man (1963), newly restored by Anthology; the world premiere of Harry Smith s Fragments of a Faith Forgotten (1981); and a rare public screening of Andy Warhol s Eat (1963), which features the painter Robert Indiana eating a mushroom for the entirety of the 45-minute film. Taylor Mead who starred alongside Winifred Bryan, Jack Smith, Julian Beck, Ed Sanders, and others in The Queen of Sheba Meets the Atom Man made an on-stage appearance.
