Original staple-bound wraps; pp. , with ads and illustrations in b/w, including an ad for Upton Sinclair's "Prasident der U.S.A." on rear cover. Flattened crease down the middle, extending throughout, but barely visible; pencil notations throughout, some of them extensive, but not interfering with legibility. Erwin Friedrich Maximilian Piscator (1893-1966), was a German theatre director and producer and, along with Bertolt Brecht, the foremost proponent of epic theatre, a form emphasizing drama's socio-political content. This is the first program from his influential (though short-lived) Piscator-Buhne, which he founded in 1927, giving himself the freedom to produce plays especially suited to his theories. It includes "Auf Dem Wege zur Kunst," by Trotzki, as well as short profiles of Piscator himself, Ernst Toller (who also contributes ("Im Irrenhaus"), Leo Lania, Alfred Wolfenstein, Bertold Brecht, Lion Feuchtwanger, Tilla Durieux, Max Pallenberg, and others.
