Project Management - Evolution to Solution

The book ‘Project Management – Evolution to Solution’ describes some of the basic but very important aspects pertaining to management of engineering and construction projects. Such projects are characterized by complexities, risks and uncertainties and therefore, require integration of differentiation and interdependencies through coordination, communication and control. Keeping this in view, various chapters have been incorporated to address such ground problems faced by project teams.Project has been defined in detail alongwith its life cycle phases. Evolution of project management has been included to familiarize the readers about various steps taken internationally in this field. Risk, its types and symptoms have been explained to keep PM in effective control of the project. ‘TEMPLS’ parameters have been used to develop an innovative tool to check project Health Index and Sickness Coefficient at any stage of its progress. To this effect, project has been considered as an entity with living like attributes i.e. brain, body, heart and soul. Similarly, Quality Index has been defined and derived to give near objective solution to this issue. A poem on project management has been added to summarize the entire project management theme.About the Author: Sh Kundan Singh is Civil Engineering graduate from MNNIT Allahabad and post graduate from IIT Delhi. He obtained MBA degree from IGNOU New Delhi and has more than thirty years of experience in planning, designing, execution, supervision and management of large and complex projects across India. The range of such projects covers housing, hospitals, offices, schools, industrial buildings, swimming pools, water and electric supply schemes, over head reservoirs, underground sumps, airports, highways, STPs etc. He single handedly progressed the prestigious AIIMS Rishikesh project sanctioned under Prime Minister Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY). He has deep passion for Project Management which is manifested through various projects implemented by him successfully much before the stipulated dates of completion.
