The editors of Rodale Press have collected more plans in this latest volume in the company's "Weekend Woodworker" series. A variety of projects--including shelves, tables, toys, and such unusual ventures as a rice paper screen or a seesaw--require varying degrees of expertise. Interspersed throughout are one-paragraph "shop tips" and longer one- or two-page descriptions of routing circles, mortising hinges, and other special techniques. The instructions seem straightforward and easy to follow. Illustrations and photographs were unavailable in reviewers' galleys, but previous Rodale woodworking books have had some of the best available. Rodale is simultaneously publishing a hardcover edition under the title The Weekend Woodworker Annual 1993 ; be careful not to order both. Recommended for libraries with active woodworking collections; others may want to pass unless they need a general collection of woodworking projects.
