A Promising Middle East

"A stable Middle East goes a long way towards saving the world from the shocks of uncertainty. A prosperous Middle East goes a long way towards re-igniting the engines for economic growth throughout the world which have almost shut down in recent years." Very few voices have examined the Middle East objectively and neutrally. The voices most often heard tend to look at the complexities of the Middle East through the lens of right and wrong, and more frequently via the narrow and misleading metric of good and evil. A Promising Middle East breaks away from these views and focuses on explaining the Middle East as one whole, united by many important factors – identity, race, religion, and politics. In this book, Maher Dabbah carefully examines issues that tend to be overlooked when analysing the Middle East, including leadership, education, internal societal tensions, and the destructive force of ideology. He concludes his analysis with a level-headed but optimistic vision for the future of the region.

Professor Maher Dabbah holds a chair in competition law and policy at Queen Mary University of London. Dabbah specializes in the field of antitrust and competition and has published widely in this field. He is the author of several books dealing with national, regional and global competition law and policy.
