Prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament Volume 1: A Comprehensive Reference Guide from Genesis Through Joshua

The Old Testament was pointing to Christ from the beginning.

Before Isaiah spoke of the suffering Servant, before Micah foretold Bethlehem, and before Zechariah described the coming King, the first books of Scripture had already begun revealing the Messiah.

Prophecies of Christ in the Old Testament Volume 1 is a comprehensive reference guide to the Christological witness found from Genesis through Joshua. This volume gathers 316 entries tracing the promises, patterns, sacrifices, priestly shadows, divine appearances, and redemptive themes that point forward to Jesus Christ.

Moving in canonical order, this book includes direct prophecies, messianic promises, types and foreshadowings, and Christophanies—Old Testament appearances many Christian interpreters understand as pre-incarnate revelations of Christ.

Inside, readers will find concise entries on:

Seed of the woman, Abraham’s promised Seed, Isaac on Mount Moriah, Joseph as the rejected deliverer, the Passover lamb, the manna from heaven, the smitten rock, the tabernacle, the Day of Atonement, the bronze serpent, the Prophet like Moses, the curse borne upon the tree, Joshua as a type of Christ, Rahab’s deliverance, and much more.

Each entry is designed for quick reference while still showing how the passage contributes to the Bible’s unfolding testimony of the Messiah.

This first volume lays the foundation for the rest of the Old Testament’s witness to Christ. Before the Psalms sing of Him and before the prophets announce Him with greater clarity, Genesis through Joshua have already begun to reveal Him.

Christ is not a late addition to the biblical story. He is the promised center toward whom Scripture has been moving from the very beginning.
