Prophets as Social Engineers: Scripture, Institution, and Reform

Prophets as Social Engineers: Scripture, Institution, and Reform explores the lives and missions of the Prophets through a unique lens — as architects of society who combined divine revelation with practical reforms. Far from being only spiritual guides, the Prophets were visionaries who challenged oppressive systems, restructured institutions, and laid the foundations for ethical governance, justice, and community life.

This book examines how sacred scripture empowered Prophets to address the social, political, and moral crises of their times. From Prophet Nuh’s perseverance in the face of mass rejection, to Ibrahim’s revolutionary stand against idolatry, Musa’s establishment of law, Isa’s message of compassion, and Muhammad’s transformative reforms in Arabia, the Prophets are shown as agents of profound societal change.

By bridging theology, history, and sociology, the work highlights three interwoven dimensions:

• Scripture as the divine source of authority and moral vision.

• Institution as the structures created or reformed to sustain just societies.

• Reform as the courageous challenge to injustice, corruption, and inequality.

Accessible to students, researchers, and general readers alike, this book presents the Prophets as not just figures of faith but as social engineers whose teachings remain relevant for contemporary struggles against oppression, poverty, and moral decay.

Prophets as Social Engineers is an essential resource for anyone seeking to understand the dynamic role of Prophets in shaping civilizations and inspiring reform movements across history.
