Brown textured cloth with embossed borders and decoration, spine titles and decoration in gilt, decorative gilt cameo on top board, all edges gilt, yellow end-papers, text in two columns. Four sections of Vol.1 include: 'The Women of England'; 'The Daughters of England'; The Wives of England'; 'The Mothers of England'; Vol.2: 'The Poetry of Life'; 'Pictures of Private Life' (First and Second Series); and 'A Voice from the Vintage' (the sections are paginated independently). Boards of Vol.1 are slightly bowed, foxing to first and last few leaves; Vol.2 tail of spine frayed with minor loss, tips lightly bumped and lower tips frayed, light soiling to cloth, foxing especially to initial 8 and final leaves.
