This book examines the relationship between International Environmental Law and Human Rights Law regarding the protection of the environment in times of occupation.

Times of occupation create a tangible threat to the environment, alongside human, animal, and plant rights. This book uses international law to grapple with unprecedented environmental challenges, from water, air and soil pollution and severe damage to natural resources to the complexities of regulating emerging environmental challenges during extraordinary situations. Waad Abualrob is a Visiting Lecturer in Law at the University of Westminster, and a Law Tutor at the University of Essex, delivered through the university’s collaborative programme with Kaplan International College London. He holds a PhD in International Law from the University of Westminster, where his doctoral research examined the protection of the environment, and natural resources during armed conflict and occupation. Dr Abualrob’s research focuses on the intersection of international humanitarian law, human rights law, and environmental law, with a particular emphasis on the legal protection of the environment and natural resources in situations of armed conflict and occupation
