The first printing was May, 1924; this second printing denoted on copyright page, and at top edge and spine of dust jacket, "Second large Edition six days after publication". In its pictorial dust jacket printed in red and black on yellow; handsome deco image of a satyr and naked woman signed 'T-N' on front cover. Jacket priced ($2.00) on jacket, and on Robinson Co. book tic on rear pastedown. Tiny chip to top of d.j., and front d.j. crease, reinforced internally. A long Getrude Atherton testimonial for Proud Flesh on back of d.j., ". A classic picture of the eternal San Francisco . a story of intense drama and passion . No doubt many of our good ladies will be horrified at the amount of "sex" in the book." In 1925 Proud Flesh was made into a silent comedy-drama film directed by King Vidor and starring Eleanor Boardman, Pat O'Malley and Harrison Ford in a romantic triangle. This copy comes from the fine library of silent screen star Harrison Ford, and his bookplate is laid-in.
