The book grounds the text in its manuscript world. It discusses the Trinity College manuscript, the Jesus manuscript, and the Cotton manuscript (along with copies and later printings), showing how scribes handled spelling, abbreviations, and half-lines. A detailed introduction explains the creation, transmission, and editorial choices behind the edition, while notes explain linguistic features and textual variants. A glossary helps readers understand old words and forms in context.
- Clear, scholarly apparatus that links the Proverb to its manuscript families and variants
- An introduction that frames the text, its history, and its linguistic features
- Explanatory notes on spellings, abbreviations, and editorial decisions
- A glossary of terms and forms to support study of Middle English and Old English material

For this reason, we kindly ask that you double-check the title, edition, and your shipping details before placing an order.
If you change your mind after ordering, you are welcome to return the book once it arrives, and a refund will be issued in accordance with AbeBooks’ return policy.
