British agricultural expert Rowland Prothero explains the connection between human life and sacred psalms. He begins his first chapter: "The Psalms as the mirror of the human soul. . ." as he details the role of psalms in various important historical events. Appended are lists of principal authorities' writings on the subject of psalms, and an index to the use of particular psalms, as well as a general index. An entry in Everyman's Library Religion and Philosophy series, edited by Ernest Rhys. --- Undated, possibly published c.1910s. An American issuance in the Everyman's Library series, with little mention of British E.L. partner J. M. Dent in the book. In 'flatback' binding style 1, full ribbed dark blue cloth-covered boards with elaborate Reginald Knowles-designed gilt spine titling & decorations, blindstamped E. P. Dutton vignette to front cover, brown topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, endpapers & frontis. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A Good-only, rather fragile copy, with moderately shaken binding, crease to rear board, acidic staining to endpapers, prior owner's penciled signatures to endpapers and her frequent pencilings within the text. Note: Loosened front & rear hinges have been repaired on this item. NOTE: This item scarce in this edition.; 16mo - 6 to 7 in. tall; xii, 331 pages.…
