An American issuance in the Everyman's Library series, with little mention of British E.L. partner J. M. Dent in the book. In 'flatback' binding style 1, full ribbed dark blue cloth-covered boards with elaborate Reginald Knowles-designed gilt spine titling & decorations, blindstamped E. P. Dutton vignette to front cover, brown topstain and fancy Knowles woodcut art at title page, endpapers & frontis. Volume lacks the dust jacket. --- A Good-only, rather fragile copy, with moderately shaken binding, crease to rear board, acidic staining to endpapers, prior owner's penciled signatures to endpapers and her frequent pencilings within the text.
