Minturn, gilt turn ins, all edges gilt, yellow end papers, approx. 840 pages. Special title page between no. 718 and no. 719 notes this is the 8th American Edition from the eighteenth London edition, with enlargements. Also t.p. date of 1842, it reads "A Selection of Hymns, from the Best Authors, including a Great Number of Originals: intended to be an Index to Dr. Watts Psalms and Hymns, by John Rippon, D.D." A SCARCE edition, in commerce, and particularly so in lovely contemporary fine binding. Very Good Plus, rubbing at edges, prior owner name front end page(pen) and title page(pencil), toning at end pages and widely scattered throughout.
