Pseudo-dynamic Seismic Response of Retaining wall Supporting c-? soil

Retaining wall is a structure used for supporting the soil mass laterally so that the soil can be retained at different levels on the two sides. So, for designing retaining wall it is very important to have knowledge of earth pressure viz. active and passive acting on retaining wall. During Earthquake, due to the disturbance of the soil, the active earth pressure on the wall increases and that of passive resistance decreases. So, unless proper care is taken to determine the active force and passive resistance it could be catastrophic. In this book using pseudo-dynamic method, a thorough analysis of the retaining wall is done for the determination of seismic active and passive earth pressure supporting Φ and c-Φ backfill. A wide range of variation of parameter like angle of internal friction, angle of wall friction, seismic acceleration coefficients, cohesion etc. are discussed on the variation of earth pressures.
