About the Author

Clara Thompson (1893-1958) was a founder with Erich Fromm and Karen Horney of the American Association for the Advancement of Psychoanalysis. Later she joined Fromm in creating the New York branch of the William Alanson White Psychiatric Foundation.

Paul Roazen (1936-2005) was professor of social and political science at York University in Toronto. He was the author of Helene Deutsch and Brother Animal, both available from Transaction.
