Item description from seller

Xvi,373pp. An important scientific (as well as anecdotal) study. 60 women between 18 and 28, in intact marriages, seemingly both physically and mentally healthy, were studied from their first pregnancy to six months afterward. Postpartum depression, and successful and unsuccessful bonding in the midst of pain and sleep deprivation are examined. The biases of the therapeutic community of the 1960s will be apparent to today's reader. Stories are told. A fine copy in red cloth boards. Dust jacket is near-fine, with small tears and chips to corners.
