Psychological Keys. Unlocking the Mind's Mechanisms (Paperback or Softback)

Feeling lost in therapy, never quite reaching your goals? Would you like to learn tools to manage your own psychological health? Psychological Keys are explanations of how the mind works and how to solve challenges. Keys explain the reasoning behind therapies, other books explain how, this book explains why.

Many people find psychological therapy a maze where they feel unsure of what is being achieved. Therapy works better if the person is actively engaged and collaborating with the therapist. Keys make therapy less complex and time consuming by improving understanding. This book suggests an alternative to other methods by finding a short cut to insight.

Psychological Keys is a book written for both therapists and those looking for self-help. Using the structure based on the bereavement (Kubler Ross) model the book finds Keys for a range of other issues. The simplicity of these models are that they can be explained in 10 minutes meaning that they can be used by non-specialists.

The novel idea that within therapy there is a small part of any therapy which actually makes the person better is at the heart of Keys. The Keys are simple models which are easy to teach as part of a normal consultation and allow the person can find their own solutions. Keys can start a change in a few minutes because they are more focused than conventional psychological treatment. Keys empower the reader to see the basic steps to understanding psychological problems. For therapists this approach allows them to spend more time in the process of therapy and less time offering insights and improving engagement. The more Psychological Keys a person knows the more likely that they will find a way of unlocking their difficulties. Psychological Keys has the potential to make therapy a collaborative process with therapist and client as equals.
