About the Author
John William Weeden lives in Memphis with his amazing wife with the most magical smile that lights up the room, their incredible son whose vocabulary and curiosity far exceeds that of the typical Kindergartener, a cat that runs, a dog that digs, and a fish that goes 'glub'. Over the course of his career he has worked in a dizzying array of art world roles from curator to critic, appraiser to professor, non-profit director to arts policy advocate. Along the way he's produced projects for institutions in London, Paris, New York, Memphis, Switzerland, Holland, and Scotland. His writings on art have been published in 'Modern Painters', 'Art Papers', and elsewhere. He completed two Masters degrees, one in Contemporary Art Systems from the Sotheby's Institute in London, the other in Curatorial Studies from Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. He writes about the mechanics of the art world, the life goals of arts workers, and why art matters in the modern world. You can learn about his work and writing at weedenarts.com, and weedenartswatch.blogspot.com.
