Public Policy and Administration

Public Policy has emerged as an important discipline in social sciences, since the early 1970s. This discipline deals basically with the analysis of complex societal problems. To this extent Public Policy provides perspective on analysis implementation and evaluation of a problem.

This volume is a collection of articles which appeared in the Indian Journal of Public Administration and covers many important aspects of public, policy. It provides a background of public policy and its importance the fact value dichotomy and Drors analysis of public policy. It also includes the problems of implementation which has been acknowledged a major area of concern in Public Administration. Attention has also been focused on reasons of policy failure and organizational aspects of public policy making in Government. Administrative culture plays a critical role in public policy making. In the Indian context it requires major adaptation to develop deep professionalism. Articles on policy making dealing with preventive detention population and wild life conservation are also included.

This volume also contains some significant articles of Shri B. Venkatappiah.
