About the Author: Mike Nash is Deputy Director of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at the University of Portsmouth. He has written and published widely on dangerousness, the probation service, and criminal justice policy. He is a former senior probation office who has worked in maximum security and lifer establishments. Blackstone Press published his first book, Police, Probation and Protecting the Public, in 1999.
