Brown blind stamped boards with gold lettering and embellishments on spine. Boards have some edge wear and some rubbing on surface of boards with some color loss. Previous owners' names on front endpapers (also ink stamp of previous owner on front free endpaper). Pages are lightly age toned. Small tear on bottom edge of title page. Tightly bound copy with clean interior having no markings, writing, underlining, or highlighting in margins or text block. William Barrows, D.D. (1815 ? 1891) was a Congregational minister in Massachusetts. In 1869 became secretary of the Congregational Sunday-school and Publishing Society; in 1873 of the Massachusetts Home Missionary Society; in 1887 financial agent of Whitman College. He was the author of The Church and Her Children: ? Purgatory; Doctrinally, Practically, and Historically Opened: ? Oregon; the Struggle for Possession: ?
