Pursuing Fellowship volume one: By Activating the One Another Principles (The Pursuing with Passion Series) (Volume 4)

Pursuing Fellowship, volume 1—the sharing of the inner life, in the context of God’s Word and in the energy of the Holy Spirit—is essential to a successful pursuit of God. There are thirty different “one another” statements in the Bible, each describing or defining the experience God wants us to have. When combined, these statements provide a cameo-sharp picture of what biblical fellowship really looks like.

These “one another” statements, examined in these two volumes, can be divided four ways: 1) The Supportive Statements Learning God’s ways to become much better friends than we’ve ever been before 2) The Confrontative Statements Linking lives to uproot sin and to pursue a holiness contagious in its appeal 3) The Preventive Statements Stopping the pain many have experienced at church 4) The Prohibitive Statements Providing a safe atmosphere for fellowship by establishing biblical boundaries.

Dr. Jay Adams, author of Competent to Counsel, The Christian Counselor’s Manual, Shepherding God's Flock, and more than 80 books in the area of pastoral ministry endorsed this work saying, "Nowhere else is there a work that so fully considers the “one another” passages in the New Testament. Here Dr. Phillips systematically examines, illumines, and applies pertinent verses concerning Christians’ relationship with one another. What could be more appropriate than members studying together and mutually implementing the biblical truths that are highlighted in such a clear and concrete way? By all means, get and use this book. It is designed to be a blessing in your church!"

J. W. Phillips earned masters and doctorate degrees from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and for many years served as a senior pastor. Early in his adult life, Phillips appeared to be on a trajectory toward performing. He worked as a radio announcer for many years, played the leads in musicals and dramas, and directed dramas on both the high school and college levels. However, the Lord cross-grained natural abilities and led Pastor Phillips instead into extensive reading of devotional literature. The Pursuing with Passion Series is enriched by insights from hundreds of godly writers of different nations, generations and denominations.
