Putting Descriptive Standards to Work

The series presents modules treating discrete topics relating to the practical management of archives and manuscript collections in the digital age. The modules are available in both print and electronic format. The four modules here focus on archival description, a practice archivists do not share with colleagues in libraries and museums, who are concerned with individual publications and objects rather than with entire collections or holdings. They cover implementing Describing Archives: A Content Standard (DACS): a guide to the archival content standard, using Encoded Archival Description (EAD3), introducing Encoded Archival Context-Corporate Bodies, Persons, and Families (EAC-CPF), and sharing archival metadata.
