Item description from seller

A collection of the works of Horace in the original Latin, bound in smart diced calf. Horace (65-8BC) was a Roman lyric poet writing during Augustus' reign. He wrote plentiful works, including his Odes, Satires, Epistles, Epodes and Ars Poetica. His work strongly influenced contemporaries such as Ovid and Propertius, as well as later writers such as Petrarch, Dante, Ben Jonson, John Dryden, Edward FitzGerald, and W. H. Auden. He is also held as being the first autobiographer in the world. In the original Latin.Bound in a pleasing contemporary leather binding with colourful marbled edges. In a full diced calf binding. Externally, generally smart, with some rubbing to the head and tail of the spine; extremities are slightly bumped. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with just the odd spot. Very Good Indeed.
