Synopsis
Quest for the Pulitzer…Have you ever heard of journalist West Schubert? Probably not… but by the conclusion of Quest for the Pulitzer, I am sure you’ll be cheering him on and wanting to join his team to rid Illinois of corrupt politics, to end high taxes and to halt the exodus of citizens. Would you want to be West Schubert, take on his challenge? You don’t know…yet. Do you? So let me know after you finish Quest for the Pulitzer. Really! Let me know. West is young and motivated; he seeks a BSJ from Northwestern’s Medill School of Journalism. And whatever it’ll take to earn a Pulitzer Prize. To do that, he garners the courage and inspiration to change decades of status quo in Illinois. His Quest drives him forward…from his rural, northwest Illinois environs to an urban, university setting…into Illinois’ economic stagnation…and its political morass. His Quest is to expose and bring down one-man rule and get Illinois back on track. West uses his keen skills of digging deeper, investigative reporting to challenge the political establishment, to seek truthful golden nuggets and create words that tell a story demanding action. His Quest is to topple the “Kingpin” and restore Illinois to its once proud prosperity. West is very inspired by the captivating and gorgeous Eve, a Medill “counselor.” She is his inspiration, his muse, his “close” friend. Eve conspires with her confidant W.T. Weisen and the audacious, très chic twins Sylvie and Syndie. The team looks to rid Illinois of rampant cronyism, influence peddling, gerrymandered legislative districts, while seeking to impose term limits and major pension reform. But can West’s stories restore confidence in state government and in elected officials? And implement the dynamic rebirth of manufacturing in the Rural Quad in the heartland of Illinois? And motivate Disney executives to solidify a mega-deal to develop a Disney destination, an Ag-oriented theme park, in the western part of the state? Can he and his team rejuvenate Illinois? So, now, do you want to join West’s team? Sure, it all sounds like fiction, perhaps a new fiction genre—political fantasy. But for West, and you and the rest of us, this is no fantasy. It’s very real. It can be done. If the truth be told.© JMB///11/12/20
