More and more frequently, news items on this subject are cited as proof from which long term conclusions are drawn. This current study analyzes a variety of procedures and techniques for the measurement of economic activity using synthetic indicators of activity. Classic formulations will be used, as well as new formulations based in the methodology of state-space.
