Osama M. Raisuddin, Ph.D., is a Research Scientist at the Future of Computing Institute at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). He earned his doctorate in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in December 2023 and an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mechatronics from Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (ODTÜ).
Dr. Raisuddin's research is interdisciplinary, crossing over from engineering to quantum computing and machine learning, with goal of enriching engineering methods with cutting edge tools in scientific computing. He has pioneered the development of iterative methods for quantum computers and his work has been published in peer-reviewed journals.
Suvranu De, Sc.D., is the Google Endowed Dean of the Florida A&M University (FAMU)-Florida State University (FSU) College of Engineering and Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He joined the college in July 2022 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where he was the J. Erik Jonsson ’22 Distinguished Professor of Engineering, Head of the Department of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Nuclear Engineering (MANE), and Founding Director of the Center for Modeling, Simulation, and Imaging in Medicine (CeMSIM).
Dr. De received his bachelor’s degree from Jadavpur University, India, in 1993; his master’s from the Indian Institute of Science in 1995; and his doctorate from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2001—all in mechanical engineering.
Dr. De's research lies at the intersection of scientific computing and computational mechanics, with a focus on developing advanced algorithms for complex, real-world applications. He is widely recognized for pioneering contributions to meshfree methods, multiscale modeling, iterative algrithms and real-time simulation technologies. He has authored or co-authored numerous book chapters as well as papers in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. He has also coedited two books.
