Despite all odds, the rag-tag human diplomatic party, led by Chief Justice Alba Espina, has been rescued and granted asylum by the yibo government. But they’re not in the clear yet—with yibo sentiment turning against humans, Alba will have to use every bit of skill and acumen she’s gained over her lifetime in politics to not only keep herself and her friends alive, but to save the captive survivors of the diplomatic ship who are still stranded in hostile territory. In the meantime, field-scientist Aran Romeu is in a race against time to save his friend before the raider crew who’s taken them prisoner decides his friend is more useful as a meal than a hostage.
