Quantum Signatures In 0d Systems: 20 (Series on the Foundations of Natural Science and Technology)

This book presents a comprehensive study of zero-dimensional (0D) quantum systems — including Quantum Dots (QDs), magneto-quantum MOSFETs, quantum well field-effect transistors (QWFETs), magneto size-quantized systems, magneto quantum well superlattices (SLs), magneto negative-ion potential islands (NIPIs), and quantum dot superlattices (QDSLs) — which are central to low-dimensional electronics, nanotechnology, and quantum device engineering. It investigates key properties such as Magneto Thermoelectric Power (MTP) in nanoscale thermoelectric conversion, Einstein's Photoemission (EP) in semiconductor nanostructures, Activity Coefficients (AC) in confined carrier systems, and carrier contributions to elastic constants (CEC) in advanced quantum materials.

The text covers a wide range of semiconductors and nanostructured compounds, including CdGeAs2, Cd3As2, III–V, II–VI materials, GaP, Ge, Te, PtSb2, HgTe, Pb(1-x)GexTe, GaSb, stressed n-InSb, Bi, IV–VI and II–V systems, Bi2Te3, Sb, Zn3P2, three-dimensional quantized NIPIs, strained superlattices with graded interfaces, and effective-mass engineered HgTe/CdTe SLs. We have investigated the quantum signatures for the said systems with respect to Quantum Capacitance, ID–VD equation, the relaxation time and the Raghi-Leduc coefficient respectively. We have derived the complex distribution function for HD materials which generate three new concepts We have also suggested experimental methods for the determination of Einstein's relation, the Elastic constants, and the Debye screening length together with the fact that the book covers 24 different applications in the field of quantized materials.

This book contains circa 250 multi-dimensional open research problems which form the integral part of the text and are useful for both PhD aspirants and researchers. It is written for post graduate students of various departments of different academic organizations, engineers and professionals in the fields of solid state electronics, materials science, solid state sciences, nano-science, nanotechnology and nano materials in general. This book will be invaluable to all those researching in academic and industrial laboratories in the said cases worldwide.

Professor Kamakhya Prasad Ghatak (h-index-35, i-10 index-189, maximum citation of a research paper = 328 & total citations-5840) obtained his D Phil (Tech) Degree of the University of Calcutta, India, in 1988 on the basis of 27 published research papers in eminent SCI journals which is still a record in the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics. He is the first recipient of the Degree of Doctor of Engineering of Jadavpur University, Kolkata in 1991 since the University inception in 1955 and in the same year he received the INSA visiting fellowship to IIT-Kharagpur. In accordance with the analysis of World Ranking of top 2% Scientists as prepared by Stanford University in 2020, USA, (shorturl.at/qHIJ4), Professor K P Ghatak of IEM UEM group stays within less than 1% band width in the field of Applied Physics. Prof. Ghatak is the principal co-author of more than 200 research papers in SCI Journals and 385 research publications in SCOPUS respectively. From the position of Assistant Professor in the Institute of Radio Physics and Electronics of the University of Calcutta in 1983 up to the position of Emeritus Professor in the University of Engineering and Management, Kolkata in 2024, he was at the top of the Merit lists in all the above cases. Prof. Ghatak is the Principal co-author of 20 research monographs on various topics of Nano Science and Nano Technology from World Scientific Publishing Company, Springer-Verlag, De Gruyter and NOVA. Prof. Ghatak has successfully supervised more than 50 PhD students in different topics of Nanotechnology and the list includes Director, Vice-Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Dean, Principal, Professor and CEO of different reputed Academic Organizations. The AICTE has selected the first R & D project in his life for the best project award in Electronics and second best research project award considering all the branches of Engineering for the year 2006. He is the referee, Editor and Guest Editor of different reputed International Journals. Incidentally, from 2015–2017, in accordance with Google Scholar, the number of research publications of Prof. Ghatak in the consecutive said three years have exceeded one hundred. His brief CV has been enlisted in many biographical references of USA and UK.
