Two uniformly bound octavo volumes in brown and green quarter calf bindings with green marbled paper over boards. Spines sunned (?). Corners slightly bumped. Leather chipped at tops of spines. Marbled end papers. Text blocks clean, bright, and tight with only mild spare foxing. Philibert Joseph Roux (1780 1854) published works on staphlorrhaphy and resections of bones. Garrison Morton (4456) states: Among the French surgeons of the 19th century, Roux was second in importance only to Dupuytren. He performed [andnamed] staphylorrhaphy in 1819 and sutured the ruptured female peritoneum in 1832 [first to do so]; he is also remembered on account of his method of resection of bone.
