Beginning with the very first electric watches and bringing us all the way up to the Apple watch, via Swiss quartz, Japanese innovations and much more, Quartz Watches will transport you through time, uncovering the histories behind the most coveted electric watch models.

On Christmas Day 1982, I received a magnificent stainless steel Seiko A 638 5000 in brushed steel, which I have never tired of admiring. As is often the case, the combination of technology and design had given birth to a classic, for me, on the cusp on adolescence, it was a revelation.

From the author and photographer of the highly successful Exceptional Watches, comes a new book bringing the story of watches bang up to date. Collector Clément Mazarian of Collection Personelle tells the stories of 90 era-defining electric, electronic and quartz watches from the 1920s up to the present day, each one meticulously catalogued and accompanied by a stunning image from celebrated photographer Henry Leutwyler. Illustrated technical pages clearly explain the mechanics of these timepieces, while profiles of the watches give readers insight into their cultural histories. Quartz Watches is a treasure trove for collectors and enthusiasts alike.

Featured models include:
