Farman Yusufzai (full name: Farmanullah Khan Yusufzai) was born in undivided India in 1925. He graduated from the University of Lucknow. At partition the family migrated to Pakistan. He took his Master's Degrees in Psychology and English from the University of Lahore. He taught English at colleges in Rawalpindi and Karachi and was an active member of the Pakistan Writers' Guild. He came to London in 1965 and for a while worked for a research degree in English Literature at the Birkbeck College, University of London, while teaching at a High School. He obtained the Diploma in Educational Guidance from the University of Reading in 1972. In 1987 his services were transferred to a language project. Besides English prose and poetry, Farman Yusufzai also writes Urdu poetry. A collection of his English poems, entitled 'Of Hungry Cats and Immortal Pigeons' (ISBN 1 873203 14 4), was published in 1992 by Woodfield.
