This book contains 40 two or three-day getaways departing from Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; and Vancouver, British Columbia. Each itinerary consists of an introductory section outlining the main attractions for each "escape." A detailed travel plan follows, listing roads and traveling distances, attractions along the way, places to eat, lodging, etc. Information includes addresses and telephone numbers. At the end of each itinerary there is an extensive section on additional places of interest, special events, and supplementary recommendations for food and lodging. Particularly useful is a listing of Chambers of Commerce for the area being visited. A well-written, fascinating book; primarily for regional collections.
