A quilt is made up of three layers. The top layer is generally made from 100% cotton fabrics. These fabrics are cut and then sewn together in a process called “piecing.” The middle layer of the quilt is called the “batting” and is cotton, polyester, a combination of both, or wool. Finally, the backing is usually one large piece of 100% cotton. Many modern quilts have a pieced backing which the quilter creates from piecing leftover sections of fabrics that were used in the top layer.
What's in this book? The project readers will be working on in this book is a baby size quilt, - perfect for beginners! You will be constructing the quilt from three simple 12” blocks, repeating each block until we have a total of nine. Then, you will border the quilt, and there you have it. You can use it, sell it, or give it as a gift!
