Gr 1-4--The sole purpose of the "Quincy's Clubhouse" books is to teach a group of children "quinlets" (or character lessons) such as respect, kindness, honesty. In Space Rescue, the kids are taken by Quincy, a magical pig from another planet, on a journey into space. Bobby leaves his post after promising to fly the space shuttle, puts everyone in danger, and learns about responsibility. Pedantic in style, the fantasy format seems contrived while the cartoon illustrations are silly. Poor layout on some pages and the choice of color create an inharmonious alliance of text and pictures.
