R.S. Thomas - A Dislocation of Mind

The second part of a series on pilgrimages to places where artists have left enduring legacies. Tucked away in the old Welsh fishing village of Aberdaron, St. Hywyn's medieval pilgrim church stands tall above the shore of the Irish Sea at the end of the Llŷn Peninsula. It was the last parish of R.S. Thomas (from 1967-1978), the formidable poet and priest, one of Wales' greatest poets writing in English. The booklet text is inspired by a spiritual journey to Aberdaron and the old pilgrimage route toward Bardsey Island (just 3 miles out to sea), and attempts to engage with the many contradictions swirling round the poet's mind, his life, and standing in the local community. Interspersed throughout, a fantastic collection of black and white drawings by Glasgow based artist, Iain Sharpe compliment a selection of landscape photographs.
