Size of binding: 21.2cm x 26cm. Size of map: 140.1cm x 101.3cm. Scale 1:10,000. Produced for the Rio Tinto Company Limited (no lithographer or engraver credited; likely internal or limited-issue production). A highly detailed and technically sophisticated engineering master plan of the Rio Tinto mining district in Andalusia, produced shortly after the transfer of the mines to British ownership in 1873. Boards worn with some splitting and wear to the binding. The map remains bright and very legible with strong original colour. Includes one minor pencil annotation to the map. Mounted on linen as issued and retaining its original folding binding. Only minor wear consistent with careful use, including two very short tears to the linen at fold points, with no significant loss. No restoration. Map in very good plus, bright, clean condition overall. No other example of this map has been identified in publicly accessible records. Exceptionally scarce.
